WMST CLASS

I really have enjoyed being in this class this semester. I love that the class has no problem saying what’s on there mind. I love that the teacher allows everyone to have their on views about diffenent situations. I love that the readings in are book are somewhat interesting. This class has been a wonderful experience. When I first found out I had to take the class I thought here goes another boring class, but I was wrong.  I really enjoyed this class……..

Resource Assignment

The resource assignment was very interesting, when you think about domestic violence you think about couples were the women (most of the time) are being physical, emotionally, or mentally abused. But one website I was mentioned that if elders were being abused they could call the hotline. Before I never thought about elders being abused, but so many are. I no my bestfriend’s grandma is in a old persons home and they found out that she was being mistreated by the workers. I think its sad that people will do that to their elders, I will never put anyone in my famly into one of those types of homes!

Domestic Violence (our guest speaker)

I don’t remember our speaker’s name but I loved her. She knows a lot about her topic, and I feel she is very into her job. Some people just do there job because its there job, but it seems like a passion to her. Not to say that I liked the fact that she was rapped, but I like that she wasn’t scared to tell others that she was rapped. So it makes you not feel uncomfortable talking to her, because she really can relate. I have never been in a domestic violence relationship, but I no people who have been. Eventually they do leave but I never knew why they would stay. Its like some new they deserved better but they never left. When I was growing up my papa always taught me to never settle women are QUEENS and if you aren’t getting treated like one you are wasting your time. I think many girls today settle for less, they drop there standards down too low and get hurt.

Betrayed by the Angel

Every since I could remember, my papa has always told me to never talk to strangers, and to always scream if somone tries to take you. To this day I have a hard time talking to people I dont no and the story shows why. The girl was rapped by a man, and afterwards she felt she was suppose to accept the situation. Now that she is older, she is teriffied of men, she scared that she will say someting to make that happen to her again. She probably will never trust another man, and I truly understand why. Loved the story everyone should read it!

Domestic Terrorism

This story was good but also said, so many people are in “couple violent” relationships. All abuse is bad but this story talks about emotional abuse. Its so sad because the man tells her all type mean things like she’s not worth anything ( buys her close from the thief store.  He also caused her to lose jobs because sometimes they would stay up all night arguing and he would even call her jobs to argue. She could not have a life at all. He controlled her every minute. He also put her down by saying she wasn’t a good wife, making her take the bus, and even fronting her in front of her friends. She finally left him after 6 years. She’s lucky because she left alive and ,most don’t……. loved the story

The Myth of the Perfect Mother

When reading this story, I really agreed with the author. Its true when you have kids its hard to manage between work and kids. Its like you want to spend most of your time with the kids but you have a 8-5 that you have to work in order to feed the kids. I see this a lot with my aunt she woks 8-5 and has two daughters . She would love to spend her every moment or just more time with the kids but she cant because she has to work. She realizes now she doesn’t have a life her life lies within her kids and work.

Power-point Presentation

The power-point presentation was very enlightening, I learned a lot about Sally Ride, and also
about other people who helped women. But I was really shocked to learn that not only was the
the assignment to help us learn about people who helped women, but it was also to help us
(women) be confident when speaking in front of audience. It also was to help us not use certain
words when trying to get a point across. A lot of students use the words but, like, and umm… etc.
I realize now that when speaking in front of a audience (especially women) we need to stand strong and
confident and be cautious of the words we use.

This blog has nothing to do with the subjects in class, I just wanted to say that I’ve enjoyed being in this class this semester. I like how everyone speaks there mind in the class. I even enjoy how some ppl blog on here and just talk about random things. I’ve never did blogs before (this is a first) and I like it. J

Women at Work

It makes me upset to no that women are getting paid less money than men. How is that two people doing the same job can have to different salaries. Women have to work overtime just to get the same amount pay as the man next to her.My aunt is a accountant, and she told me that men on her job tell her that men are suppose to be accountants and women are suppose to  be teachers. So he feels that if a women doesn’t apply for the type of job she’s suppose to have then expect to get paid less! NOW HOW WRONG IS THAT!

Video: 5 Girls

The video five girls is the one video I can say I really enjoyed watching in class. I like the fact that the video was somewhat up to date and that it had up to date issues girls face. The one I could really relate to was the young black girl who had the strict dad. I could relate to her because my grandpa is kind of similar when it comes to boys, I guess he just doesn’t want me to get my feelings hurt by a boy.  I wish we could have watched the entire video but our time was up. I plan on renting it if they have it a blockbuster.
